CASE FILES Vol. 1 · sample reading

HOW A DOSSIER IS BUILT

Every CASE FILES dossier begins with a question about the record rather than a demand for a verdict. The work is to identify what is claimed, locate the earliest available source, distinguish testimony from later retelling, and state the limits of the material plainly.

THE PUBLIC RECORD AND THE COMPLETE DOSSIER

The Institute’s public Case Records are concise, useful entry points. The complete edition expands the provenance trail, source notes, claim history, imagery and editorial assessment. Neither layer asks the reader to accept more than the surviving evidence can support.

01. Claim

What is actually being alleged? A precise claim can be tested; a broad atmosphere cannot.

02. Provenance

Where does the account originate? The earliest identifiable source is not automatically true, but it establishes what can be traced.

03. Corroboration

What supports, complicates or contradicts the account? Contradiction is recorded directly; uncertainty is not forced into certainty.

04. Assessment

The final assessment describes the present state of the record—not a permanent identity for a story, a place or a belief.
